Anyone with experience in these?

Worth it, or not?

The “critical care” one seems attractive to me as I start getting older.

There is a “cancer” and “accident” one too.

What say you?

The answer is to always remember that insurance is designed to take in more than it pays out, much more.

Only insure:

1) things for which you could not cover the loss without financial devastation.

2) rare situations where you have knowledge that the insurance is a good value for you specifically (your spouse breaks their phone every 6 months so you go for Apple Care

3) peace of mind of having the specific insurance provides you value beyond the actual coverage (you can’t enjoy driving around on vacation without paying the $20 daily collision coverage)

I’m assuming you have health insurance. Last I checked, health insurance pays for the ICU, cancer, and accident. If you can afford the out of pocket maximum in your health insurance plan, then you don’t need those additional coverages. If you can’t afford the out of pocket maximum, you need to reevaluate your primary insurance and your budget.

Don’t really need it per se. Just wondering if it makes sense.

If I retire early and have to buy healthcare insurance seems like the monthly is from 1.5k to 2.5k, with the cheaper ones having like 6k per person deductible, and a 9k max.

So instead of going for the 2.5k, would it make sense to go for the 1.5k with supplemental insurance for critical illness? Basically using the supplemental insurance to pay for the deductible if there is a major event?

I’m pretty healthy. Only go to the doctor once a year for my wellness visit.
