Hey you guys, those of you who are going to pay 500 dollars nonrefundable deposit to USC ( 😱 ) do you know if we have to do something to pharmcas? I remember jim telling us something really important--something about after getting accepted we have to let pharmcas know to change our status-- or something..
If I want to wait for some other school do I just have to pay 500 dollars and wait? or do I have to do some other things? i wonder if my question is too vague.

You pay $500 to reserve your seat. I think what Jim said was that if you want to go to a different pharmacy school after you have accepted USC's offer, you have to cancel your USC acceptance through PharmCAS before you can accept that school. Once you accept USC, PharmCAS will lock your record unless you tell them you want a different school.

Strange. The deadline for the $500 deposit is 12/28, but there is a little neon orange strip of paper that says their office will be closed 12/24 - 1/2. Who will process it if they receive it after the 24th?

Ehh, no worries, I just sent my deposit via Priority Mail today. 😎 ...just warning you procrastinators out there. 😀

i sent mine today too. i was confused about the dates that the office was closed to. maybe they just want it post-marked by the 28th.

just a reminder to everyone, the check needs to be a cashiers check not a regular personal check. just go to your bank and theyll help you out with it for a nominal fee ($6 at washington mutual)

I wonder...would accepting an offer from USC affect my chance of getting into other schools? Because I think the other pharm schools can see which schools you have been accepted to through PharmCAS...

I don't think they take that into consideration when offering acceptance. After all, the vast majority of applicants apply to more than one schools. Besides, if they take that into consideration, they would have to state directly that applicants who have accepted another school will be given less preference. So, I wouldn't worry too much about that.

But of course, if you don't accept USC and wait for other schools' decisions, that is good for me. 😀

So does paying 500 dollars mean that I'm accepting USC's offer?

I believe accepting the seat means that your spot is saved for you. If you decide to go to another school then you will just lose the money. That was what a friend of mine told me. Well, I guess I will see you guys at USC 🙂
