I know that we have to update our fall & spring GPA.
What GPA is enough to secure the spot after the acceptance?
😕

my understanding has always been you should maintain approximately the same grades you've been getting. don't blow off classes just b/c you're in, but if your gpa goes down a little due to a hard class i wouldn't stress it. i think it would take a pretty significantly bad semester for them to actually withdraw your acceptance.

oh thanks~
but i heard from someone that GPA 2.0 will still be okay.
Is that true? 😕

in my opinion if you had a 2.0 semester that would be enough for them to reasonably withdraw your acceptance. of course i am not on an adcom or have any inside knowledge whatsoever so i don't know for sure. why risk it though? just keep up some reasonably good grades and don't worry if you'll stay in or not.

I am sure that even if you get a 2.0, schools will not withdraw your acceptance. It all depends on schools, but I have personally contacted some schools and they told me that I just need to get Cs or above. However, for UOP you need to get 3.0.

WHy dangle yourself so close to the edge, why not just get consistent Bs in the classes you have left.

true. consistent Bs with some Cs. 😀

I agree with these posts... dont sweat it and maintain the usual to be safe, but you never know what the adcoms will do, my friend applied for the 2004 cycle in the fall of 2003 and received a D in Histology spring 2004, and the school said nothing. good luck next semester 👍

This is from the Admission Director at Case if anyone is interested:

Accepted students are expected to make satisfactory progress in their remaining coursework. All final official transcripts will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee to ensure this has taken place. While there is not a specific GPA level that is mandatory, any grades below a "C" level will possibly jeopardize an individual's acceptance.

Sincerely,

David

hey t12kim
what schools did you contact?
I know getting B's will be fine but lately I can't focus on finals.
Is it happenning only to me?

Penn has a similar clause in their acceptance letter. If I were still in school I would still study as if I still were seeking to get in somewhere.

Fortunately, I did well enough during the semester that I didn't need to study for finals if all I wanted to earn was a B--it was a nice week!

definately not. I have a histo final tomorrow and I find myself staring blankly at my notes for 20 minutes... or trolling SDN to avoid memorizing the 4 layers of GI tissue and the components thereof. I hate histo... sigh

I had a nice phone coversation with adcom lady at UMDNJ about this already because I was jsut dangling on a C, C- borderline in one of my dumb upper bio elective class that I didn't care about. She asked me if the class I was struggling with was a pre-req course. I said no and she said, "if it's not a pre-req course, we don't really care. Just make sure you get your diploma by the time you enter the dental school." So I say the most important thing is that you graduate on time. C's don't bother most schools, but UOP because they strictly say that they expect B or better in all the classes you are takng.
If anyone cares, that "dumb upper bio elective" class I was taking, even though I got a C-, lol professor knew my situation and gave me a C. Wow~ what a nice guy.

Just my opinion, but why blow off the very last of your undergrad after having worked so hard to have good grades. For me, I would rather not have a blemish on an otherwise impressive transcript. 😕
