Hey everyone,
I was just wondering how long you had to decide if you wanted to go to the school if you are accepted. I have interviews that are two months apart, and I don't want one school to fill up and get rejected from the other school so I'll have no where to go...
Does anyone know when seats usually fill up?

SCO gives you 8 weeks if you are accepted in October, 6 weeks in November...the time just decreases the later you are accepted.

I don't think most schools give you that much time, but I think most are willing to extend the deadline if its fairly early in the game because they want to make sure that you want to be at their school and that you make the best decision for you, which in the end is the best decision for them also.

As always, ask the schools. I think most are honest and tell you how they work those things in the interview day.

SUNY gives you 30 days from the day you receive your acceptance letter. Obviously, this isn't ideal, but you can give your deposit to a school you don't want to lose the seat at and end up declining the spot. You'll lose some, if not all of your deposit, but if it's the choice between losing $500 and ending up where you REALLY want to go... it's definitely worth it IMO.

Personally, and this is just me, I wouldn't ask this question in the interview. Of course it may be something that is on your mind, but I don't think you should give the schools the indication that you don't REALLY want to go there until you have that acceptance letter. Then call and ask if the letter doesn't address it.

wait, so can you accept admission to one school, and then interview later with another school that you want to go to...then forfeit the deposit if you get in?

Yes you can do that. I had to do that with UHCO to go to PUCO. Tough luck sometimes....

Yup, I did the same thing last year with ICO to go to NECO.

It really depends on which school. One that I accepted to (forget which one) said they wouldn't refund, but ICO refunded half of mine. Not sure what the rest do.
