Hey guys,
Is it a good idea to send an email to the interviewer after the interview?
I do want to thank them for being so nice during the interview and their answering to my questions

what do you think?

Send a card, it will feel more genuine.

I sent non-gushy cards to interviews I thought went well. If they were completely unmemorable or went poorly I didn't bother.

I emailed all of my interviewers and people who helped me and I received acceptances to all, so I would say it did not hurt me. I chose email because it is easily accessible for them and they could receive it the same or next day from my interview. I would say a card would be fine, too. But if you're just questioning the gesture, if it is sincere, go for it.

Seconded. In today's age, sending a card doesn't seem very sincere, IMO. It doesn't hurt, but because I never send cards outside of birthdays/xmas, it seemed over the top to go to such measures for a simple interview follow-up. I interviewed at 4 schools, got into 3, and I sent one thank-you email because my interviewer and I discussed something and he wanted me to get back to him with my thoughts on it. I normally just thanked them at the interview for their time and closed with a handshake.
