Hey guys,
I am new at this, and I am planning to take the DATs in January 2010.
Going to study for it all winter break, but having a hard time planning when to take it in January. My break ends right after New Years. Should I take it the Saturday after New Years or wait?
How many weeks or days did you guys/girls wait to take the actual test?

When will ur winter break start? I have almost a month before I am taking mine on January 14th, a few days before my classes start.

If I think I am not ready I will move it a couple weeks and take it then.

What are you planning on using for studying?

Depends on how much time you have and how prepared you think you are / will be. Also, if you go to school out of state and you're going home for winter break, consider whether you want to take it at home at the end of break or at school at the beginning of the semester.

Also check what times the test is available - not all locations offer the test at the same times. I'm also taking the DAT in January, and I wanted to take it when I got back to school because it would give me an extra week to study. However, the testing center near my school only offers exams at 8am, and I am NOT a morning person AT ALL. The testing center back home offers it at 12pm, so I'm taking it there during break.

I'd make up your mind quick and reserve a spot, though. I'm sure many people are planning to take it over winter break

I am on the same boat and dont know when to take it, either right before school starts or within the couple weeks of beginning. Should I register after 3 or 4 weeks of study? I got a month of break.. Should I register now?

DAT destoryer, crackpat, kaplan, and campbell...
Might take the DAT January 2nd, still not sure yet. Depends on how I do on the practice tests. SIGH... no winter break for me. =(

Everyone has different studying preferences but sometimes I think it's better to block off your schedule (if you can) and cram for this kind of test. Christmas break is a great time to stay inside and out of the cold. Just dive in and start doing problems, look things up as you go. Don't get discouraged, keep studying and doing as many problems as you can. I find the material stays with you better over the short period of time.
Don't wait too long to schedule the test because they might not have the day or time you want, and if you get in a bind and don't feel ready you can always pay the money and push it back.

How much time do you think is necessary to prepare for the DAT? Should a couple of weeks do good, a month?
