I tried finding the answers on the MyERAS pdf, but it seemed vague. It says even after you submit your application, you can still edit, or create entirely new PS, but:

1) Can you continue to apply to new programs in the original specialty after submitting?

2) Can you apply to programs in an entirely different specialty after submitting?

Ok I apparently missed this, which I think answers both questions.

Step 11: Select and Apply to New Programs, Update Your Documents and Track Their Delivery

You may apply to additional residency programs at any time. Use the Program Search tab to make additional selections just as you did previously and do not forget to make your document assignments before you transmit the applications.

Yep. You can always apply to more programs.

The initial fee covers something like 10-12 programs -- I forget the exact number. If you were to apply to 6 programs initially, you can, at any time, apply to another 4-6 programs for "free", and then start paying per program according to the ERAS rate. Once you start applying to a new field, it's another base fee for the first 10-12 programs.

it's 10 programs. I just got jacked $8 for adding an 11th.

Well, i apparently didn't read the whole fee thing about applying to a whole bunch of programs (which I did)... with loan interest, ill be paying off my enormous eras bill for the next few decades
