*Note*: I'm talking about applying for jobs/internships here, although, yes, this thread may be just as relevant for me a year from now as the 2006-07 cycle comes to a close.

I am sick and tired of seeing my inbox stuffed with "We regret to inform you that we have selected another applicant yaddyaddayadda"! There are multiple postings for the same internship which I really want almost every day on my local (and top choice) med school's employment site. They keep throwin them up there and sending me rejects. I am RIGHT HERE, a hard-working, dependable, very interested applicant! I don't even care if you pay me much, just cover my gas. What more do they want? Is it because I'm one year away from my B.S.?!? What's one measley year, I can tell you it won't make me much smarter, it's just a label! Dah. I really want this job. Any sympathizers? 🙁

I've been trying for months to get on as a tech or an EMT at the hospitals. I'm non-trad. Having a degree and professional employment history is killing me. "Well, we thought you were either crazy or made a mistake when you applied for this $10/hr job." Ahhhhh!!!

Ha aw, I guess you win this one ed2brute.

I just sent an email stating my interests and enthusiasm. Hopefully it works. Seriously, the job description doesn't sound that hard.

Getting a job is tough work. When I finished undergrad two years ago and started looking for work as a lowly research assistant, I interviewed at approximately 25 places over the course of two months and from that wretched experience garnered only 2 job offers!
But... in the end I'm doing what I want to do. So I guess it's worth it!
Plus, I imagine that the medical school application process will be similar to what I went through- so I'm now more immune to the heap of rejection that's sure to come.

Just keep applying to more jobs/schools something will work out! Make sure to follow up, the research job I got I was originally rejected from, then the guy he hired didn't work out, and because I followed up I ended up getting the job anyway!

Well, I know. And I sympathize. I'm just frustrated because I think I'm qualified to do this job but they keep trying to look for someone else. Seriously they reject me and turn around to post the same opening again. And all I can think of is that it's a matter of my not having a specific label because I have nothing going against me. If they would just give me an interview ...

Boo half the posts on this thread are mine - really turned into a bitchy girly thread. :barf:

Thanks Fender. 🙂

Yeah, rejections suck. After a while, all the thin envelopes look the same. I didn't even need to open half of them. I just trashed them, already knew what was there. Bastards.

YAY I got an interview!! 😀 *happy dance* Patience was never my forte. And I don't hate the system so much anymore ...for now.
