Ok so like everyone else I'm applying for 2016...I started the app and everything and now I'm beginning the freak out stage! I've posted before about my grades etc but I'm just so afraid of not getting in and doing what I love! My gpa as of right now is a 3.4(4.0 last semester!) with a core(for OkSu) of about a 3.1...I am taking the new GRE but my practice tests put me at about a 1380... As for experience that's my strong point I have about 7000 hours from a mixed animal practice and about 1300 from a feline only practice I also have rehab experience(about 300 hours) and I grew up on a farm with cattle so I have a ton of animal experience from that I also have volunteer work from two shelters and some extra teaching in suture and anatomy....as well as some honors and involvement....I'm looking for some honesty here...what does everyone think of those stats? Good, bad whatever??? Thank you guys!!!!

Why are you so worried?

My theory: It doesn't really matter if I get into vet school this cycle, or the next, or even during further tries. I will continue improving my application, working, and enjoying life. My life is not on hold for the veterinary school application process. I will certainly create the best application that I can, but my life is certainly not tied to this process.

That's a good way to look at it....it's just stressful haha it's the rest of my life lol

My GPA (and last 45 and science GPA) was about a 3.4, as well, but luckily most vet schools look at more than grades.

For example, I graduated with dual degrees in 4 years, so I was taking a lot of credit hours per semester. I think the least I ever took was 17 or 18? On top of that, I was pretty active outside of academics. I was in several clubs, held (2) leadership positions in my music fraternity.

Just make sure you express what makes you YOU in your personal statement. Don't spend 5,000 characters trying to explain your GPA. Tell admissions why you want this and why you've earned it.

Good luck!

P.S. Good reccomendations and a decent GRE helps too :xf:

Why are you so worried?

That's a really great, healthy way to look at it. Sadly, not all of us have that personality. I'm the type that if I'm not worrying about something I feel like I'm being lazy and/or forgetting something. I'm pretty relaxed, though, so I think "high strung" isn't necessarily connected to "worrier."

CGH1989, you're just fine. Your GPA might be a titch below average, but it's well within the normal range. Your GRE is good, and your hours are excellent. So.... Average, good, and excellent. Now you just need to get solid LORs and write a good application. G'luck!

Thank you! I have 2 eLORS as of right now and both of them will be fabulous they are from doctors I have worked with for about 7 years now and we have become really close... My boss is helping me with me PS so I'm hoping that will be really good as well
