Granted this isn't why the majority of us are pursuing dentistry, but there has to be something to get us through those long nights of studying. My uncle just bought this fine piece of Italian automotive engineering on Saturday.

I am officially going on record to say that I'm jealous.

I would rather have a BMW M5 sedan.

those are all nice until the first time you take it out on the road and a stone chips some paint.

Its still nice! If you can afford to buy one, i'm sure a detailing and touch up won't set you back that badly.

C'mon now, you know you don't actually drive that thing.. you just polish it in your driveway and pull it back in the garage and sit in it for a few hours..

I have a friend who graduated d-school in '05 that just bought a Porsche caymen.

If

If I remember correctly a DDS does mostly all the clinical dentistry procedures. If a DMD can't solve the patients problem with a prescription of some sort he/she will usually refer the patient to a DDS to take care of the issue clinically (filling, root canal, crown, extraction, etc.).

Where did you get that from? You make the DMD sound much less than DDS. They are both dentists.

What is the difference between a DDS and a DMD?

The DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) are the same degrees. The difference is a matter of semantics; dentists who have a DMD or DDS have the same education. Universities have the prerogative to determine what degree is awarded. Both degrees use the same curriculum requirements set by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. State licensing boards accept either degree as equivalent, and both degrees allow licensed individuals to practice the same scope of general dentistry (ada.org).

I think he was being sarcastic.

Save up for the R8 instead:

Now if you want to be a real playa, you'll get one of these and pimp it out:

I like you're thinking:D ...it would be a little odd for a freshly minted dentist with a boatload of debt to be driving a porsche, ferrari, etc.

DMD = Doctorate of Medieval Dentistry.
We learn the techniques utilized back in the day since they just seemed to work. We learn about leaching, disease and injury are the result of supernatural intervention and insist that cures are only possible through prayer. If that doesn't work we just yank the teeth. Because that usually fixes the problem. Ohh ya we learn about the theory behind microbs, but dont believe it because we cant see it with our own two eyes, or one in the case of xxxxxx.

I want to get me one of these, 102" Plasma Screen TV, after a few years of being in practice

Though I am sure they will have bigger ones out by then

By the time were out of school we can just have our robot slaves plug the jack from the hypercrystal movie player directly into our brain ports

I'm sick and tired of people giving DMD's a bad name. Quit trying to be all ecumenical and new age. We don't even waste time learning about microbes. That whole germ theory thing is just a passing fad, and soon faith will be restored in the spontaneous generation of disease.

We pay more attention to global warming produced by replacing amalgams placed by DDS than we do to microbes.

I can't believe I just participated in this thread...and now I am going to press enter.
