Hey Guys,

Just found out that I will be going to Keesler AFB (Biloxi, MS). It was my #7 choice. Where is everyone else going that got into an Air Force AEGD-1 program?

This is a thread better suited for the military dental forum. You will see where people get selected there. I know one person got selected for Wright Patterson AFB recently. Go there and check it out.

Moving it along to the Military forum. 🙂

Wow, Willis. My story is very similar.

I was also recently notified of my Air Force AEGD-1 acceptance. I was assigned to Keesler AFB as well. And Biloxi, Mississippi wasn't necessarily at the top of my list.

See you next summer!

Don't get down on Keesler. It is an excellent program and there is a ton to do in Biloxi.

Hey...could any of you who have gotten accepted to an AEGD 1 program maybe PM me and give me a general overview of what your stats were like? Or if you feel comfortable giving those on the forum that's cool too. I'm just trying to guage where I have to fall in order to get into a residency. I"m still just a 1st year but I dont have any plans to specialize (as of now) but can see myself taking the AF up on their AEGD program. Thanks guys!

For the record, I didn’t mean to put down Keesler. I was simply stating the fact that of the 12 AEGD base options, I had Keesler ranked lower than most on my list. There seemed to be a lot of excellent locations. Now that I am going there, I am interested in learning more about it.

SNOZBERRIES, I have found your posts very informative and helpful in the past. You eluded that you thought Keesler was an excellent program and it sounds like you have been there. Is there any specific insight you could give me on the program? Or how the base and area has bounced back since Hurricane Katrina?

I have not been to Keesler. It was my #1 choice for AEGD back in '05. Luckily I got my #2 choice, Wright patt.

My fellow dentist began his AEGD at Keesler, but obvioulsy had to move after Katrina.

About half of my instructors either were residents or instructors at Keesler and they all have nothing but great things to say about the residency and area.

I know that the clinic is definitly up and running. I am pretty sure the hospital and clinic are brand new. Don't quote me on that.

Keesler is one of the big Meccas' for AF dentistry. I am sure you will learn a lot and have a good time in the process.

i have a similar question to shamrock's. i heard from the recruiter that AF used to accomodate all AEGD applicants, however in recent years there have been more app. than available spots. can someone share info on how competitive the program is now? if people can kindly share their stats i would appreciate that too!

I will be going to Nellis AFB (Las Vegas, NV) for AEGD-1 program. Anyone else going there?
