Does anyone know how many are offered per state? Is there a certain number up for grabs and are there any requirements?

I am just trying to get an idea of what I should I ask the recruiter.

If you are referring to the HPSP (Health Professions Scholarship Program) - It is not alotted by state - and according to the recruiter in Tampa, FL - they gave out around 7 or 8 last year. It is a very competitive program. Definitely contact the recruiter for yourself - There are specific requirements - but its best if you contact them personally...

I did yesterday and got the response "[FONT='PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif']you're a little far out to do anything solid yet!". I would assume this means that I need to wait another year or 2 ( I will only be a sophomore this year) before I can become a candidate for the scholarship.

Thanks for the info! When you say 7 or 8, is that for all of Florida/Tampa/ or the US 😱

Sadly yes - it was 7 or 8 Health professions scholarship for pharmacy in the US. There are only so many scholarships, and they tend to go to MDs or ODs or DMDs - so PharmD tends to be at the bottom of the list...

Part of the requirement for the scholarship is having an acceptance letter in hand - so you apply for it around the same time you are applying for Pharm school - in the fall prior to matriculation. Hope that helps - I missed it for this year - but I will be applying for it here pretty soon...

I was in the AF for 8 years. I got out in 05. Unless something has changed, keep in mind also that the HPSP only pays for the last two years of pharmacy school unlike four years for med school.

Do you know the requirement for HPSP and the deadline for the application? I have been trying to contact recruiters in California, but they are either out of town, or just cant help me according to my situation.

I am currently an undergrad in my last semester. I am graduating this May (2017). I have already got in and accepted a pharmacy school in CA I begin pharm school August 2017.

The need for airforce pharmacists are very limited .. VERY .. Honestly, they are probably trying to avoid another person they need to inform as they probably get 100 calls a day from prospective pharmacy students, it's gonna be tough to get a hold of someone unless you have connections with someone in the airforce program

Airforce dentists on the otherhand through this scholarship is another story ..
