I am with you on that buddy! I served 5.5 years in the Air National Guard and then upon starting med school switched to ASR with the Army National Guard. Boy, did I get a lot of grief from my Air Guard friends when I left! But now that I am in I don't think it is such a big deal. I don't know what you were before, but I was enlisted and now I am a 2LT and for what we will be doing in the Guard, it won't really matter what branch you are in because you will be helping fellow airmen and soldiers. Heck, you can work at an aviation guard unit so you can still hear the jet noise! I think the main difference is that in the Army NG you will probably go on a deployment upon completion of all training, if you still have time left or decide to continue, whereas the Air Guard, for me anyway, stays state bound, the way the Guard was originally meant to be. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me! Best wishes!
