Posting under new, anon account. Just wanted to get a feel for others' experiences.
My program (apparently) has a reputation for being really cheap. Almost no book fund, little to no conference money, and considering not paying for our RSNA membership. None of these was a big deal to me.
Then came AIRP. I won't quote our "stipend", for fear the program (or god forbid I) would be identified. It's certainly not enough money to live in the Silversprings area for 2 weeks, let alone a month. Our director has been quite defensive, pointing out that we can't complain as
A. They DO pay the tuition to AIRP, and;
B. They continue to pay our anemic salary while we are away "not contributing to the workload back home".
So I wanted to ask - is there any program that does NOT do these things? I remember when I interviewed the programs that didn't pay for the tuition gave a (what now seems like quite generous) lump sum to the residents and let them distribute the funds as best they could.
Input much appreciated.
