Hi Guys!

I'm currently going over some respiratory questions for my upcoming exam and am having trouble with a specific problem that involves calculations. The question states that "something causes the diameter of the airway to constrict by 10%" and then asks "how much the resistance will increase by?"

Answer : 46%

I have gone through multiple methods to solve this problem and still cant get the answer listed as correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:lame:

assuming laminar flow, no turbulance blah blah blah
resistance ~ 1/r^4
1/0.9^4 = 1.52 so it's an increase of 52%
