Woohoo finally got my secondary! Submitted my primary in late June

Got a secondary today! How much do they screen? I have heard that they screen big time?

It seems to me that they only want you to put down your current employment activities and not past ones. Am I right?

Submitted! Were we supposed to receive a confirmation e-mail when we submitted? Also the app was on a page that had log in boxes. Were we supposed to create a log in ID/password?

Just got a confirmation for the secondary.

Edit: I got the email a couple days after I submitted my secondary.

Why does it ask for 2 test scores for SAT/ACT I only took it once.

I had that error as well, but it seemed to clear itself up as I didn't add another test score and it accepted only one the second time.

I received confirmation the day after I submitted the secondary. 👍

Maybe it's me but I found the instructions for the secondary a bit confusing. Are we supposed to upload a single file for both essays or a single file for each essay?

Thank you!

I interviewed here last year and got denied. During my interview, they said they don't care about in-state or really regionally. They just tend to have more people apply from those areas, and that's why most the people they interviewed and accepted (at that time) were from there. They did say that they did not look at your residency, like, whatsoever.

sorry to hear that. did they give you any advice on what to fix?

At the time, I had a 22 MCAT. They said it was just too low, especially with a mediocre GPA. I'm sure if I had a 4.0 it may have been different, but my entire interview was about why my MCAT was bad and why they should take me anyways.

I submitted my secondary on Wednesday and have not received confirmation that it has been received. Is anyone else in the same boat?

How were your EC's if you don't mind me asking? That's awesome you got an interview with a 22. They must have been impressed with your app even if you didn't get in.

Do you guys know how they look at multiple MCAT scores? What if our score dropped? 😕

Yeah, I was very excited. I interviewed early September too! I had a LOT of leadership and service with a couple hundred hours of shadowing and pre-med type shadowing. I did a lot of things, which is why my GPA was lower than I had hoped. I also held a job throughout school and played a club sport.

Also, another girl I interviewed with who had a similar score had a completely different interview. I don't know if she ended up getting in, but you don't rotate around the same interviewers. There's a good chance my interviewer was stuck on that MCAT score and couldn't get past it to give me a good recommendation to the committee.

So did you reapply for this year and retake the mcat? If so I wish you the best. One more question. At your interview Did you ask if you were to retake the mcat if they would reconsider you? Acom seems pretty open minded about things. I'm curious how they'd react to that question. Thanks for all your feedback!

Yes, I retook it, retook some classes, and then reapplied. They did ask me if I was planning to retake it, but I had already taken it twice so I said I wouldn't retake it unless I didn't get in anywhere. They did seem to want me if I got a higher MCAT since they said it directly reflects your chances to pass boards.

So were you able to raise your MCAT score each time you took it? Mine dropped 2 points from last year, and I am confused now.

Yeah I went up every time, except verbal stayed constant. If it dropped, it probably depends on how it dropped. Did you improve in one section but verbal go down? Things like that. If you stayed the same across the board except dropped and didn't improve a section, you might need to come up with a good reason why.

Ya, my verbal score dropped two points, and my physical section dropped 1 point. I honestly don't understand why it dropped that much.

Well, depending on how good your composite is, I would at least think about a retake. Every test is different, along with every curve, so that's why it probably wasn't the score you expected. If you don't retake, think of a good reason besides you thought it would be higher :]

Would it matter if I re-take it in January? I just feel like I don't have enough time to take it by September. Yes, you are right haha.

Of course it matters a little, but it matters more to NOT take it when you're NOT ready. If you got an interview now, saying you will retake could def help you. If you don't get an interview, it could help you get one after the MCAT. Just don't take it if you don't feel like you can do better, and it should only help you.

I have a 23 mcat, but a 3.86 overall gpa and a 3.76 science. Do you think my gpas will help?

I think it will definitely only help! Obviously i'm not some sort of expert, but if you have good extra-curriculars, you may have a shot for an interview. I don't know what their average stats for first class ended up being, but i'm sure the MCAT was higher. At the time, my GPA was a good deal lower, and I got an interview. Good luck to us both!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like they only review 1300 secondaries from all the secondaries they receive. So the harsh screening may not have yet begun for those that received the secondaries.

Is that secondaries received from students or secondaries submitted to students?

I wish they would just look at the best score!!!

Planning on submitting my secondary tomorrow 🙂 anyone who has already submitted hearing anything regarding ii's?

I received both, confirmation that it had been received a day after I submitted it. And about a week later I received confirmation that the application is complete and under review for an interview spot.

Just got an II this morning, my application was completed on 8/14. I'm OOS , 27mcat.
