Buffalo:

Pros:

  • In state tuition
  • Brand new facility (classrooms, lab, tech)
  • True P/F
  • Enjoyed the faculty and students on interview day
Cons:
  • Far from support system
  • Mostly matches in buffalo/upstate
  • Not one main hospital

Albany:

Pros:

  • Closer to family/friends
  • Really liked the faculty/student vibe on interview day
  • Attached to Albany Medical Center (level 1 trauma center)
  • Liked curriculum set up slightly better

Cons:

  • More expensive
  • Older facility not very nice at all
  • Not true P/F

You can't go wrong with either, given your list. AMC is a fine hospital that does good medicine and sees just about everything there is to see. Being close to family and friends is a pretty big deal, and they do record and stream all the lectures. That said, Buffalo is cheaper and new facilities are pretty nice to have. Don't underestimate the debt burden difference.

Mostly matches in Buffalo/Upstate is not true for UB. Their match list for 2020 showed only 25% of the class staying in Buffalo.
