Hi,

Just wanted to see all your perspectives on which med school I should choose considering that I would be paying roughly 232k over 4 years at Albany and 160k over 4 years at NJMS

NJMS
+ cheaper than Albany
+ pass/fail grading system
+ focus on the underserved and giving back to the community...free clinics
+ I think it has a better match list, not sure on what I would like to do, but looking for the flexibility in match list history
**Also, I don't really know how to compare the match lists between the two schools so I would really appreciate any insight.
- In Newark

Albany
+ In New York
+ Albany is better than Newark
+ more focus on research in med school
+ also emphasis on underserved
- facilities seemed more outdated relative to NJMS
- not P/F system
- concerned about match list

Feel free to point out some other factors I may not have considered!

Thanks again!

Pick NJMS -- it has the better match list according to you, P/F, and is lower in cost. I don't really see any good pros for Albany that is worth the extra 70K over 4 years.

P/F is key. Saving money is icing on the cake

Thanks for reaffirming my thoughts!
Just wanted to clarify if there is anything else I should be taking into account when making this decision.
Also, am I right in claiming that NJMS has a better match list when looking holistically?

NYMC seems to match more people outside the NY area but given that it's a private school that's probably due to many of the applicants coming from other areas of the country and wanting to match closer to home. Other than that the match lists seem pretty similar to me. There are a few notable differences such as ENT (6 at NJMS vs 0 at AMC) and Derm( 3 vs 0), but it is very hard to attribute this to the school since there is personal preference involved in picking specialties. Something to keep in mind is that AMC has a home IR program while NJMS does not, if you have any interest in that.
