thanks for your help 111girl. Now to figure out about all of these health exams :barf:

Just had my physical done. They check for testicular masses and rectal exam. In the words of my doctor, "Pants down!"

All that blood drawn made me tired for the whole day. My doctor concurred with what Jdovez's doctor said - Most of the tests are pretty pointless and not relevant for someone under 40 years of age.

So when is the White Coat Ceremony?

whew.....I thought it was bad that I had the full frontal exam (with a current MSII there participating), but I much prefer that over the ole back door exam!!

As for housing, I called yesterday and the woman said they are just waiting for the new pamphlet, but the packets are ready to go once they come in.

A rectal exam?! are you kidding me?! aaaaaacccccccccccccckkkkkk!!

also, I have received nothing on housing yet.

Oh, the rectal exam was for Rochester. Tsk tsk. You need to get one so you can empathize with your patients 😀

In any case, I think I'll be joining you guys at AECOM . The next four years will be a hell of a ride. But thank goodness I got some cool classmates to hang with. At least I know at one person that will know about the Aggies in California Jdovez!

HAHA. Thank God b/c I'm not really down with anal probing. Glad to hear you chose AECOM Uegis; the next four years are going to be amazing!

I was just at Einstein today and they told me that it could be up to 2 weeks until we get our housing stuff. As was said before, they're waiting on one pamphlet to be printed and apparently that might take up to 2 weeks. Oh well...

Hey all....its official, I have decided to forego Texas and return to nyc. How could I pass up the chance to complete my sweep of living in all 5 boroughs??? So, how about that housing??

the email today said that they would mail out housing stuff like next week...
i wonder when move in dates will be?

are all admitted applicants assigned to an uncle albert?

We got an email saying if you want one you have to email some woman (sorry I forget her name), and she'll hook us up. I did this and it took a few weeks (maybe a month) before she got back to me, but I have now been a nephew for a couple months!! If you need the email of the woman let me know, Ill fish around in my old emails for it.

From an email I received on 1/31/05:
I'd like to invite you to join what we call the "Uncle Albert Club." The Club was founded to connect incoming students with current first and second year students so that any questions you may have about lifestyle and/or academics can be answered in an open and honest exchange.

If you would like to join the "Club," please let us know via email to: Ms. Joan Baldassarri at [email protected].

I loved the use of the quotations around the "Club" as if it were not really a club at all, but something more.....sinister.

hahahaha, never thought about that way. Imagine it in Mr. Burns' voice: "The 'Club.' Eeeexcellent."

I'm just throwing this question out here before I ask Einstein Fin Aid people:

For those who got some grant money from Einstein (about a few thousand dollars), do you know if 2nd, 3rd, 4th year's financial aid package will be similar to what they offered for your first year? Has anyone asked the FA people this? To me, even a few thousand each year, would make a huge difference.

Thanks everyone! (I'm still undecided about where to go.)

I think everything is re-evaluated each year...But I'd ask them?

Thanks! Yeh, I'm going to ask Fin Aid. I'll post their reply here for others.

For all of you who are sure about attending AECOM, have you posted on the matriculation thread? 😉 Cmon, guys, lets get with it!!

good idea! i pretty much JUST made my final decision and I'm so excited about it! 😍

I just got off the favorably reviewed list and am psyched to go to Einstein.

Congrats! You must have been on the top of the favorably reviewed pile... see you in August.

As of yesterday, I withdrew from my other schools so I will definitely be at AECOM this Aug! Looking forward to getting to know you all

Okay AECOM doesn't do a white coat ceremony for sure...Perhaps we should plan our own? 😛 I know my parents were very much looking forward it.

Maybe they would do it if there was enough student interest? petition? 😉

Hey Guys, I'm also leaning towards AE and would like to know what schools you guys turned down and why AE? Thx! 🙂

I turned down my two state schools, Robert Wood and NJ Med and the waitlist at BU.

Did you go to the "second look" dinner? That's what sold me on the school. The students I met were SO interesting--they came from all different places and schools, had interests outside of medical school they had all done/were planning neat trips during the summer between first and second year. Happily, Einstein offers help paying (significant help paying) if you can relate it to medicine. I know that may seem like a small thing, but I felt it was indicative of how the administration at Einstein treats their students; they really want to take care of you and do all that they can to make your four years there good. That's what did it for me. 🙂

Hey smartievan. I was about to IM you to talk about Roch vs. AECOM, but my internet connection at home has been down. Only go online at work. I'm heavily leaning towards einstein too. I'll IM you once my connection is back up. In the meantime, we only have around a week to decide :scared:

"we don't need no stinkin' white coat ceremony..." 😉

I turned down Mt. Sinai, NYU, BU, Tufts, Emory, SUNY SB & SUNY Downstate... I'm really happy with Einstein!

As for the white coat ceremony... I think Einstein is one of the few schools that DOES NOT recite the hippocratic oath. I think the jewish religious affiliation might have something to do with not wanting students to be swearing to Pagan gods. Who knows, it's not a big deal.

Ahhh, good call loudawg. I just wanted the ceremony of putting on that white coat for the first time (well, sort of the first time) and having my mom get all teary-eyed. 🙂

UT Houston and Jefferson....I have an MSI friend at einstein and he really loves it! Im also ready to return to nyc!!

OK, so I just got the housing info... it's all straightforward, $100 nonrefundable deposit, application w/ roommate questionare and a waitlist application for studio appartments (or 1 & 2 bedrooms if you're married with children). Also, there's a pamphlet included with some useful info (I guess this is what they were waiting on being printed).

I really wish studios were available to everone in a lottery or something... seems unfair to favor MD/PhDs... Oh well, I should be used to it by now!

PS - Rooms are unfurnished, I never really thought about it but I guess I'll have to be buying some furniture!

Hello, so the email answer I got from Lloyd Greenberg is:
"You should be able to receive the same scholarship in subsequent years."
That's a relief --hey, a few thousand dollars matters!

Oh yeh, so what other schools did people give up to choose Einstein. I'm very curious myself. I just can't decide between the few schools I am holding onto and it's really bothering me. I even had bad dreams about making a decision over the weekend.

I was having dreams too. I haven't been this stressed in a while. I already withdrew from MCW. Trying to decide b/w AECOM and Rochester still, even though I'm pretty sure its going to be AECOM.

Gave up Jefferson and the cheap ass state school here in Houston....just go with your heart I think it usually takes everything into account.

have you guys all already gotten the housing package? i haven't 🙁.

Hey passthesashimi, the people that got it is in the east coast (NY actually) so they might've received it before us CA students.

BTW, did anyone get a receipt for the $100 deposit recently? I just received it at my regular address at home. Find it odd since I mailed the deposit on Jan 15th.

Yeh, I got that little yellow slip over the weekend, too. I mailed out my check towards the end of January, too. Slightly odd, but I guess they just saved all those deposits and decided to deposit them at the same time.

So I don't think that I'm even on the Favorably Reviewed list (I guess I'd know huh), any ideas what I can do to improve my chances of moving up from the wait list to the favorably reviewed? AECOM's my top choice, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
