Hello everyone 🙂 !!

I wanted to ask you something about alcohol used to make wax up shiny. At my dental school, the dispensary gives students these very small bottles of alcohol. When we place the alcohol onto our waxups, it makes the wax up look very shiny.

I wanted to go to the store to get an entire bottle of this type of alcohol, but I don't know exactly what the name of that alcohol is. Is it RUBBING alcohol? Is it Propyl Alcohol? What percentage?

If I get the wrong kind of alcohol, do you think it can damage my teeth or wax ups?

We use soapy water panty hose to smooth everything up and make it shiny. Also, some students, believe it or not, use nose/forehead grease to make the wax-ups shiny. I never partook in this.

Are you sure you guys aren't using it as a torch to get rid of small dents? if so, I think we use ethanol...isopropanol is rubbing alcohol but I don't believe it's as flammable as ethanol. NEVER USE METHANOL <----THIS STUFF IS ACUTELY POISONOUS...spraying methanol will make you nauseous and ingestion can blind or even kill you

you can also use clavicide wipes as an alternative or any oil based liquid spray
