Is water reabsorption coupled with Na reabsorption at the distal tubule/collecting duct upon stimulation by aldosterone, or is only Na reabsorbed?

I wasn't sure if ADH had to be present to increase water permeability in order to follow Na?

pretty sure its sodium.

Aldosterone promotes Na reabsorption via apical Na channels and basal Na-K pumps in the distal tubule principal cells, so no, H20 is not directly involved. Aldosterone doesn't have any action in the collecting ducts as far as I know.

The short answers are no, yes and yes. You need ADH in addition to aldosterone to absorb both water and Na. Normally the collecting ducts are pretty much water impermeable.

Agree, water usually follows electrolytes (see Thiazide, loop and K+ sparing diuretics).

There is a lengthy discussion about this topic in the step1 forum. You can search my posts there.
