hi everyone, i am an engineer and i graduated 5 years ago. i am thinking of becoming an MD. and i have a question, it will be very nice of you if you explain me this: can i take only bio and chem lessons, or must i study in a collage again? 🙁 (i mean all lessons again, physics, calculus...). and can i take this classes (only bio and chem if it is possible 🙂 ) in non regular time. in summer, at evenings...

you mean as a post grad non-matriculated student?

sure i don't see why not.

yes, as engineer who compleated the enineering 5 years ago and working now

Im not really sure what you mean, but you have to take college credit classes for the pre reqs set up by the med school you want to attend. This means passing chem, bio, etc in a college, not just lessons. you can take the classes whenever you want, but most schools require so many credit hours of college classes in these areas.

I majored in chemical engineering and managed to cover all the pre-med prerequisites at the same time. You probably wouldn't have to go back to school full-time and you've probably already got all of the math and physics requirements. So if I were you, I would look into the schools that you are interested in and see what they're biology and chemistry pre-reqs are and finish those off.

No problem...that's what I did. I work full time and can't be taking time off during the day, so I took the classes at night and during the summer.

No worries!

Just take the basic pre req's for medical school that is ..
If you were an engineering program, you prolly taken chem 1 already. Maybe chem 2 depending on your program. If not , you would need chem 2 and the below courses ..

bio 1 & 2 with labs
organic chemistry 1 & 2 with labs

and take the mcat ! Voila .. your good to go. I dont think its really necessarily to do it all over again , that would be ridicoulous and pointless in my opinion.

Secondly , I would suggest take a look into the non traditional forum as well. The posters might be able to help you as well.

As an engineer, you have taken all the physics and math that you will ever need. Time for Bio, G-Chem, and O-Chem with labs. Check out the post-bacc forum on SDN for more info.

thank ya, been very useful
