Hey guys,

I was just wondering what all of you like to do aside from school! Also, is there anything that directly or indirectly related to dentistry?

I will start off...

I enjoy playing piano. Used to play a lot of classic music, but now mostly contemporary. My girlfriend got me a Casio Privia 575R keyboard for my BDay. I love that thing (and my girlfriend) lol.

I also ride bikes. Currently have a zx10r Kawasaki. Its my second bike and is currently in my living room for the winter.

Remote control planes and cars are also my thing. I just recently built a 6' wing span plane. Still have to make it flight worthy. It needs all the servo push/pull rods adjusted and calibrated and its engine broke in.

Thats pretty much it. I also work (gotta pay that rent, right?)

What about you guys?

***Please don't say things that wouldn't contribute to the discussion.
😉

I love to fish. Hands down, my favorite passtime. This last summer I went fishing off the cost of Mexico, in the Caribbean, some lake fishing in Utah and in Alaska... pretty good considering I wasn't able to go for the two years before that!

Other than that, I am pretty much addicted to college football. I'm watching the Texas/Nebraska and the Clemson/Ga Tech game right now. Sweet stuff!

lol my interviewer at one of the schools asked me this question 3 times.. worded 3 different ways... left me.. 😕😕😕😕:scared::scared::scared::scared:.

My answer the first time he asked...

1. Traveling.. Studied abroad in London for a semester. Visited Spain, Belgium, Egypt, Singapore, China (Beijing), and Hong Kong the past year... prob will travel again this Spring 🙂!

2. Cooking - (reality is i dont cook at all.. i eat .. lots. My parents used to own a restaurant..). Love fooddddddddd <33333333333333333333333.

Then my interview proceeded.. the second time he asked again.. i couldn't think of anything else to say..

Me: "*Thinking face*"

Interviewer: " *trying to lead me to an answer* I see that you go to NYU, u must be a fan of broadway shows! Which ones have u seen?"

Me: "I actually dont like them. So none *serious face*"

Interviewer:" *blank stare* Ok.. Next question.. Sooo what do you enjoy doing on your free time?"

Me: "*wtf again? another long silence* From my resume, you can see i dont really have that much free time.. so i have nothing else.. *serious face*"

Seriously.. my hobbies are so unhealthy and embarrassing lol.. it consists of facebooking, youtubing, pigging out, sleeping in, playing video games lol.. this was my hardest interview question ever lol.

^ lol

its cool to see somebody that doesn't fit the typical "geek" image of a dental/med student!!!

Didn't get asked that question, but if I did, it would be easy to answer: weight lifting, cycling, running, playing sports, ping pong, reading about nutrition, I do actually like the broadway plays haha, the list goes on...

I'm into anything art related. A lot of my free time is spent going to plays, music concerts/shows, museums, shopping at vintage stores, and photography. I like to read a lot and I write fiction in my free time too.
And I'm down for anything outdoors.
I have a 6 brothers, so I own every videogame system ever invented, and I can throw down on the sticks.
If you were to see me on the street, you'd have no idea. lol

oh, and I work at a fashion store. yes, I'm in to fashion.

I'm a little unorthodox, I know. haha :]

Reading [philosophy and literature mostly], writing, weightlifting, and video games take up the vast majority of my free time.

Working on cutting down on video games and adding more to writing and reading... it's hard work 😛

Dollhouse building? What does that entail?

It's fun! There are kits with the wood to build the frame and then I do the roofing, paint the walls, add flooring and trim, and do the wiring for lights. I want to give one to my baby cousins when I get really good at it 😀

all in for weight lifting and nutrition for my hobbies

crafts (cross stitching, crochet, draw, etc)
cooking, cleaning, baking, doing laundry
feel like an old lady 😎

I always enjoy the diversity that each new class brings, you all have some very standard (good) pastimes and some very interesting (also good) ways to spend your time. We are each unique and a product of the environment in which we grew up. Although I love dentistry, my hobbies/ passions have very little to do with it. I enjoy
Building and working on old hot rod cars and boats
Drag and circle boat racing
Bicycling
Water skiing
Snow skiing
Softball (fast and slow pitch)
Camping
Reading
LOL I can definitely see a generational shift between my hobbies and many of yours🙂

I really love the arts! I LOVE doing charcoal portraits such as people and animals. The world around me disappears when I draw. It's just me, the pencil, the paper, and my inspiration.

I also love my piano and guitar. I enjoy just sitting down and composing new tunes when the thought comes to me. I'm not a serious musician (as in lessons), but I still get so much joy out of hearing those instruments sing.

latin ballroom dancing, ping pong, skiing, rock climbing, working out, video games, tennis, learning philosophy, scuba diving. I think im missing something...:meanie:

i love the performing arts. i was on my high school high kick dance team and did a bunch of plays and musicals. some day i'll get back into it, but for now i'm just happy to be in the audience.

other than that - i love to travel, jam out to my ipod (hip-hop mostly), run, play with my puppy, cook/bake, try out new restaurants, work on home improvement projects, and keep touch with college friends.

dollhouses - what a cool hobby! you have some lucky cousins! :luck:

I could find interest in just about anything and like to learn about how the world works.
My number one hobby is fishing (many types)
Boating and sailing
Watersports (wakeboarding, tubing, jetskiing)
car offroding
camping
Dirtbike riding
cars
motorcycle riding (i have a ninja sportsbike)
fixing cars, motorcycles and boat engines
R/C cars, boats and planes
wieght lifting and swimming
learning to play guitar
I want to start skiing and snowboarding but Florida doesnt allow it.

Also, just hanging out with firends and having a good time is an awesome way for me to relax after classes 🙂

Wow there are a lot, haven't been able to enjoy some of them due to work...🙁

Let's see...cooking, playing my instruments (guitar, piano, drums), hiking, mountain biking, traveling, swimming, vehicle repair (I'm a female, and I hate being talked to by a mechanic like I'm a *****), reading, kickboxing, learning new languages, and video games (not a major hobby, sometimes it's a nice way to blow off steam!)

Guitar (classical and rock, I've played for 4 years so far)
Art (charcoal/pencil portraiture and painting)
Running
Lifting weights
Racquetball
Softball (part of a local league)
Watching free movies because I work at a movie theater

Guitar (most types of rock....METAL)

Working out (personal training)

Wakeboarding

Hunting/Fishing

Listening to music

Yay, a fun thread!

Mine include (when I'm not working 🙁 ):
-TRAVELING...just wish I could do more of it, but I'm broke as a joke
-ANYTHING outdoors...hiking, camping, etc
-painting, drawing, ceramics, etc.
-playing flag football and beach volleyball with friends
-reading lame books (Harry Potter, Twilight) 😛
-watching my Redskins lose 🙄
-watching my Bulls lose 🙄
-attempting to cook
-spending time with family
-learning...I know, lame

Seems many of us have a lot of things in common. 👍
