Hello,
I met with my pre health advisor about this during my sophomore year, and she said it was fine, but I am freshly worried about this again as a senior. My gen bio credit was fulfilled by an AP credit, so I was not placed in genbio my freshman year (first years are not allowed to choose their schedule at my university). I am a bio major and have taken a bunch of biology courses (zoology, genetics, microbiology, physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, endocrinology, etc) with labs, and the lowest grade I got in any of them was a B+. I also got a 30 on the bio subsection on the DAT. When I asked my advisor if this would be a problem for applying to dental school and if I should go back and take it even though I was in upper level bios at that point, she said no, not to worry about it and that my upper levels would fulfill this prerequisite. Is this true? Should I plan on taking gen bio at my state school during my gap year? I obviously don't want to have to do this considering it would feel like a big back track and would cost extra money on top of everything else, but I will if I have to.

Ask the schools on your wishlist. But I agree that you probably have nothing to worry about unless otherwise told by all the schools on your list. But plenty of other schools will not require you to go back to take intro biology if you did so well in upper-levels. Besides, this could also be prohibited at your university since you are a bio major and already did well on your intermediate courses.

Best to ask the schools you apply to. My acceptance was contingent upon completing some intro level classes as AP credits were not accepted.
