allele

    guys i don't understand what is allele. is is the characteristics of a particular gene or species?

    An allele is an alternate form of a gene. Genes come in pairs, those pairs are alleles. For example, genes for earlobes (hanging vs. attached). You may have both alleles but the dominant form will be expressed. Hope that helps!
