Almost first day of school...should I be studying?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey guys,
so dental school is about to begin and I was just wondering if I should be studying anything to prepare? Thanks.

...you will be studying a'plenty once you start. Unless you are Gunner McGunn in disguise, you should be enjoying your last moments of freedom.

Conduct an in field experiment by studying how well and fast your liver regenerates.

Go relax.

I don't understand the logic in studying before dental school. What exactly would you study if you do not know what's going to be in the lectures, classes, tests, etc..??? I understand your apprehensiveness because I'm anxious to start as well. Just calm down and relax...we're going to be ok lol!

Go get to know some of your classmates. Invite them to a ball game or concert and go enjoy yourself.

most of the students in my class had already purchased netters atlas and memorized most of the information from the "upper limb", "thorax", "abdomen", and "head and neck" chapters before orientation. i didnt get the memo so i'm probably going to get kicked out of school. 😛

Not just no - H no!!!

What a bunch of losers, lol. I study very hard in dental school, but my gosh, just use your time wisely and you can do fine in school. I find that some people who go overboard with studying get to class, think they know it all, and then blow off what the professor says. It is far more important to pay attention to what is said in class (for some classes at least) and to pay attention to what is on slides, than to just try to "get ahead".
Dental school is a marathon, not a sprint, and I'm sure that ANYone can attest to that fact. If you are that gung-ho about being first in your class, then make wise use of your time, study hard, and do your best- but at the same time, find something that gives you a release. I play soccer, some party, some play video games, but whatever that is, find it and give yourself a break.

Most importantly, learn from your mistakes. Don't get pissed off with your professors when you do something wrong or miss a test question over something. Learn from the mistake, try your best not to make it again, and roll with the punches. It seems like you get knocked down again and again in dental school- the best students get back up again and try harder.
