Hi everyone!
I'm a D3 who is potentially interested in applying to ortho residencies. I am currently in the top 20% of my class (don't know my exact rank - too scared to look), have a 3.85 GPA, and have leadership roles in 2 student orgs. I don't have any publications as of right now, but am currently working on one for a major dental journal and am looking into more research opportunities. I shadow an ortho resident at my school a few times a semester, but am not very familiar with the ortho faculty.
I don't know if this will add anything to my application, but I have worked a restaurant job throughout the entirety of school. Does anyone know if admissions boards will take it into any kind of consideration?
I want to know if I have good chances of matching into an ortho program/what I could do to improve my chances. I know I would really enjoy the profession and it has its benefits, but I don't want to waste energy and money on applying if I don't have pretty decent chances of getting in. I could be happy as a GP too.
Please let me know your thoughts/advice!
