PiGgY1 here, still in disorientation. We have ALSO this week. I got a headache trying to read this stuff- like reading the notes for pathophys in a weekend, just endless lists.

I sort of looked on line if there was any kind of pre-course or any kind of recommendations to prepare for this thing. Yes, I do hear people fail it. I would like to keep my OB options open.

Any help is appreciated!

Just took it. Just know the powerpoints, which should be in your behmoth ALSO binder. Every single test question can be found in the power points.

The test is really not hard. Just pay attention to the lectures and learn the PPs.

I have ACLS tomorrow... should be fun.

I heard the ATLS for EM and Surgery is brutal.

None of 'em are bad. These ain't the USMLE, folks.

I had a blast in my ALSO course. Like any test, if you happen to fail (unlikely, statistically), you can just do it again. It's not going to derail your career or anything.

At our program, we do ACLS, PALS, ATLS, ALSO, and NRP. Try doing that many. It REALLY gets confusing then.

Maybe you are smarter than me, but I had a difficult time getting the doses memorized for each one. It tends to stick after the first real code, though.

Well .... ACLS was fun.... (Not really). It was funny watching Addiction fellows and Child Psychiatry fellows and Pathology residents taking the thing. As per the GME coordinator... even if all you do at your residency is clean the floor and change garbage bags.. you gotta take the certification. Cracked me up.

Our path resients don't have to. They actually off-loaded the few remaining procedures they performed a couple of years ago to our department because they did not want to be required to take ACLS and PALS any more. That is why our FM department here does some quirky procedures. For example, we do all of the bone marrow biopsies in our hospital. I'm thinking that is kinda strange/unusual for an FM department. Especially one in a university setting.

Off topic...but I'm presuming this means you successfully scrambled into ?FM or something? Congrats! 👍

So, how is the megacode? I don't see an outline in my binder. Do we need to know dosages for the test? I take the final thing tomorrow.

The megacode's mellow. If you do need to know dosages, it's 1mL or whatever. They give you lots of practice.

Just go over the written stuff.

And JEEZ people, mellow out. None of the algorithm classes are bad.
