I am currently on the unranked alternate list at the University of Washington. I just met with the dean today and he said that they usually take all the ranked alternates and some of the unranked. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this and how they chose from the unranked list? Anyone know a timeline for this?
Thanks!

I am on the ranked list this year at UW, and so far I have heard that 6 people have gotten in off that list. Form what I understand, usually all the ranked people get in and then usually a few of the unranked. This year I believe there are 27 people on the ranked list and then 47 on the unranked. I think the choice is entirely up to Dr. Samson and maybe also the ADCOM people. In that case, I think it is a good thing that you went and talked to him; I'm sure showing interest looks good and he will hopefully remember you when it comes time to take people off the unranked list. Also, it can't hurt to keep them updated with what's going on regarding your application, that was at least they will remember your name!

Also, there's another thread in the pre-allopathic forum called something like 2005 UW Alternate List, you might want to check that for updates too.

Good luck! :luck:
