I have a question for you folks, Last year I was put on Meharry's alternate list. I have reapplied this year, with a higher DAT, more shadowing hours, and I have enrolled in a community college to increase my gpa and to show that I am willing to continue. So do people usually get in the following year?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure how enrolling in a community college to boost your GPA will look. Why not work harder at a 4-year University and increase your GPA that way? Also, as far as being an alternate from last year... just because you got an interview last year doesn't mean you will get one this year, which means you aren't guaranteed admission. The applicant pool is getting more competitive and admissions committees are always looking for something new, and they will find any reason to reject applicants (even if it means you went to a community college and made a 4.0) I'm not saying you will or will not get in, but think about your decision. Good luck to you.

Here's what I heard from talking with one dean of admissions. I asked him about doing a post-bacc and he specifically went out of his way to say NO COMMUNITY COLLEGE COURSES.

So like the above poster wrote...enroll in a 4 year. Good luck.
