Hello everybody,

I just recently found out that i was placed on the alternate pool at Marquette University. This came as a huge surprise to me as I haven't even interviewed there. I thought it was kind of strange that we have to send in a deposit of $1000 to get on essentially a waiting list.

1. Do you think I have a chance of getting in?
2. What should I do to increase my chances of getting in?

I'm planning on calling Marquette early next week to have some questions answered. I was just looking for some advice prior to then.

Thanks.

That's pretty shafty...do you get it back if they don't end up with a spot for you? I went to Marquette--good clinical education but not much guidance for those that want to specialize. Due to the price tag on a year's worth of tuition, I would imagine that more people may opt out on a MU offer. If that line of thinking holds true, then you'd have a better shot at joining next year's class...

As I recall, that $1000 is completey refunded if you don't get in. Essentially, it's their way of determining who is serious about getting in. Could be wrong, but that's what I recall.

So in other words, if you aren't going anywhere, then it can't hurt to pay the money and show them you are serious.

That's true. They didn't even cash my check last year. Once the class started without an offer, they sent my check back.
