I went in for a total of 3 interviews so far with 1 acceptance and 2 alternate status. While I am estactic about my acceptance to XXX, I am very bitter and discourage to be placed on the alternate list. The worst part is waiting until March/April to find out their ultimate decision. I guess I should be glad that I wasn't rejected since now I still have the chance of getting into these schools. But I feel like I am not good enough for them and they only want me as back-up. I am scheduled for 4 more interviews and my spirit is down. I am afraid that all I will receive is alternate letters from this point on. Grrrr. Is there anyone in here also on the alternate list? Show me some love... 🙁

well, I know it's important to get in to a good school... you can always consider the fact that since you have an acceptance you WILL be a doctor in the end. That should help you relax and be yourself at your other interviews. Even if they don't accept you, you're still going to be a doctor, and that's what matters in the end.

It only takes one medical school to make you a doctor and if one school thinks you have what it takes then you have what it takes. Don't ever doubt yourself.

Don't look at it that way-really. You got interviewed early in the year-this means not only were you a desirable applicant, but your chances of getting off the wait list are better than for someone who interviews later.

Yes, and don't complain. You have an acceptance-that is a lot more than a lot of other people can say. So think positive-we all have to deal with rejection at some point in life-but you honestly haven't even been rejected yet! and have more interviews coming...

Sounds like my story. I went to four interviews so far. I have received one acceptance, two alternate lists, and still waiting to hear from the fourth school. As other have said, you should be happy knowing that you'll be starting medical school next fall no matter what happens at your other interviews. If they accept you then that's great but if not who cares. That's what I tell myself  . Although it would be nice to have two acceptances to pick and choose.

Exactly. At least you have a place to goto next year. Maybe things will work out at other schools as well so don't let your hopes down. You may like the other schools that you have yet to interview at.

I interviewed at 4 schools. 2 accept. and 2 alternate. It's funny that you feel that way, because I felt the same way when I got put on the alternate lists even though I was already accepted to the school I want to go to. Just natural I guess. Just do your best to prove the other schools wrong no matter where you go. Also, I really think it is true that there are more qualified applicants than there are spaces for. Some qualified applicants don't get accepted anywhere.
