i recently heard of someone getting an MD in alternative medicine at a school near seattle (don't know the name). can this be so? anyone know if there is an alternative med school that grants MD degrees in the Seattle area?

Bastyr University (Kenmore, Washington) offers the N.D. degree (doctor of naturopathy). If you want to focus on alternative/complementary medicine as an M.D. (doctor of Medicine), then you have two options:wendywellesley said:
(1) Get both the N.D. and M.D. degree;
(2) Get an M.D. degree and then pursue one of the emerging fellowship programs in this field, such as the University of Arizona's program in Integrative medicine.

Ive lived in Seattle all my life and have never heard of anything like that. It seems more likely that a DO school would have that option, (because you can always take the USMLEs and get your MD after your DO).
If anyone has a few 100mill Id love to partner with them on building a school focusing on CAM here in Seattle.

What? I'm pretty sure that Osteopathic (D.O.) graduates cannot earn an MD by taking the USMLEs. Maybe that's not what you meant.
