Alvernia DPT Class of 2018

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This thread is for people looking to connect with other students who have applied or been accepted to Alvernia University for their DPT program starting in the Fall of 2015. I have also created a Facebook page (see the link below). I hope this will help us all connect before deciding if it is the right school for us!

I have also been accepted to Alvernia for the DPT program. Other than you I have not heard of anyone else being accepted/applied lol

Hey, there actually have been a few that have liked the Facebook page and I know at least 7 or so have committed! Are planning to attend in the fall?

I'm deciding between Alvernia and Neumann but since I live about 5 minutes from Alvernias campus I am thinking about committing there

Nice! I actually got into Neumann as well but decided against it just because I couldn't see myself giving up weekends. I'm planning to go to Alvernia. Love the early hands-on approach in clinics and the program director is top notch. Plus being the first class has its benefits - can't wait to get started!

Hey everyone! Just heard that I got into Alvernia as well. Is anyone at all concerned about the program being a candidate for accreditation or is everyone confident that there is nothing to worry about regarding that? Still exciting stuff!

Hey! I am not concerned at all. I met with the program director on campus in February and he is super motivated to make this program last. It only helps that Alvernia already has OT and Nursing programs and that the DPT program is the first one in Berks county. Check out that Facebook page I made - easier way to connect with others who have also been accepted/committed. Have you gotten into other programs as well?

Awesome! I emailed with the director a little as well and I also emailed the head of PT accreditation and they said that over 95% of developing programs receive accreditation so I feel confident that Alvernia will be fine. I have liked that page on facebook but I feel that it may be more useful for connecting to other people if you make a facebook group instead so that we can see each other (with a like page you cannot see everyone).

Anyone going to the accepted students day on the 27th?

Oh I should've made a group instead! I didn't know the difference lol. I will do that today and post a link on the page for the group, great idea. And yep I am attending accepted students day!

I actually was accepted into the OT Program but I figured I would come on here and ask!! Have fun tomorrow!
