what up guys,

I have been reading a lot of your messages and notice that it seems like most of you have already submitted your applications and taken the June PCAT, and the more I read the more I feel like I'm behind...because I have yet to take the PCAT and have registered for October, but I feel like I will have a very slim chance to get in solely based on the fact that even if my application is complete ( I am almost finished, plan to submitt this weekend), they will still be waiting on my PCAT results which will come around early December (August to December, thats a 4 month spread!!), while in the meantime people are getting accepted and looked at...my question is, do I have a legitimate shot at most schools even though my PCAT results are going to delay my entire process? Will schools even look at me until my scores come in? If they do, will they even consider me and put me on a "special" list, and will they even interview me before PCAT comes in? sorry to be so clueless about the whole process, I'm a first-time applicant...any imput would greatly help!!

whoops, I meant to post this in the pre-pharm thread...sorry guys but feel free to give advive anyways! otherwise, feel free to move it to the pre-pharm thread...

hey doctoraj, i think you've got nothing to worry about. it's nice to have the application done early but it's not gonna really hurt you if you don't; unless you're applying to a school in cali (deadline for them is nov..i think). but anyways, i didn't submit my applications till november/december last year and didn't take my pcats till november. but look at me now...i got accepted into 5 out of 6 schools one of which included UF. just make sure you've completed all that you need to do for school and you'll be fine.

as for whether schools will look at your application, some will and some will not. most schools will give interviews based on what they have and then make a final decision (or put you a hold) until they receive all necessary materials (i.e. pcat scores, transcripts, etc...) also, a lot of schools don't make they're decisions until feb/march except those that are in early decision, and the acceptances continue throughout the summer to fill the class. Good Luck applying!

Moving to pre-pharmacy.

Hypothetical situation: You submit your application for School X this weekend, and at the beginning of October they invite you for an interview. If they like all of your other aspects (GPA, personal statement, letters of rec, etc), then what the most common thing is they tell you that you are waitlisted until your PCAT scores arrive, at which time they will make a decision. There is also the option of applying to schools that do not require PCAT.
