Hey everyone, I'll keep this short and to the point.

STATS:
- Graduated in April, 2020 from a 4 year university as a transfer student with a cGPA 3.8 and sGPA 3.9, magna cum laude. NOTE: My community college cGPA was 3.3 at the time of transfer so my "actual overall" cGPA is in the ballpark of 3.5
- 1,000+ hours as a scribe
- Some other shadowing experiences here and there.
- I've been a volunteer at my local church since I was 16 (I am 24 as of today), translating to thousands of hours of service.
- MCAT score: Pending.
- Research: None.
- I will also be acquiring solid LORs from physicians I know dearly.
- I plan to apply in the 2022 cycle because I want to continue working as a scribe to build on my clinical experience and perhaps other areas of my app that need improvement.

Let's say I perform average on the MCAT (504ish), does anyone out there have similar stats, and/or has any advice? Maybe anyone who tried applying already or is in the process?

THANK YOU!

You need to rock the MCAT, that will make or break your app since a cgpa of 3.5 is below average for matriculants. Average matriculant is somewhere around 3.7 510. I'm the same where I had a 3.6 but did well and got a 515 on my mcat and have multiple MD interviews at this point. If you get something like a 505 or lower I'd say pretty competitive for DO. If you do really well that will make MD a possibility for sure. Everything else looks good to me. Also you'll only be able to count service hours from college on, high school stuff doesn't matter.

The average MCAT score getting into a US MD school is 510. Really hit the MCAT hard and I would say you are competitive.

Many schools will give more weight tot he last 2-3 years as opposed to the cGPA. Rising GPA trends are always good.
