Pre-Osteopathic now considering the Pod route.

2.8 overall and science GPA

26 MCAT (8 ps, 9, 9)

GPA is pretty butchered but in there are A's in both Organic Chem's and Soild B's in both physics. I would figure shadowing a DPM and LOR from DPM are necessary for application?

Preferably I would love to go to school in Chicago? so Scholl's would be a heavily favored number 1.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 😀

Yes you will need to shadow a DPM and get a letter of recommendation.

Hereis the most recent information on Scholl matriculation:

sGPA: 2.35-3.62
Overall GPA : 2.56-3.71
Average MCAT 22.5

As you can see you fall into the GPA ranges and your MCAT is well over average. Apply early, and you probably have a good shot to get in.

I will say this though, with a 2.8 GPA you should be saying goodbye to Osteopathic schools, unless you plan on retaking a lot of classes and/or doing a masters/post-bac.

Same situation!!! pre osteopathic and now considering Pod route as well! I keep hearing that podiatric medicine is the best kept secret in medicine. I think you could still get an interview. Just get a solid LOR from a DPM and probably have a reason why DPM and not DO...

🙂

Don't get too caught up in that. I think a lot of people fall into that trap of explaining "why not" this instead of "why" this. Don't explain another field negatively, but just praise podiatry.

Ronalaw, you should go pod. It's the best.

Where did you get that info?

Hey guys, same old question. I am a senior neurobio with a 3.5 cGPA, 3.35 sGPA, and a 3.7 nsGPA. I just got my mcat score back today and it was a 22O. I am disappointed with that score but it seems to be around the average for most schools i have talked too (Scholl, Des Moines, Ohio). I have over a year of shadowing a variety of physicians and podiatrists. I am currently working as a phlebotomist at a private doctors office, so I am familiar with the medical setting and different insurance policies. I was also the scholarship chair of my fraternity. I just want to figure out my chances to gain admittance to some of the podiatry schools.

As long as you don't fail your interview, apply to your top choices and you will almost certainly get accepted.
