So I took the 8/4 test and voided due to a crazy BS section. I'm going to be taking again in January, and I want to be prepared as possible for the BS. PS and VR I'm good on, so not much worry there.

Anyway, between now and then I'm using EK, Kaplan, and TBR for biology. I've been reading that TBR bio is overrated in terms of passage, and are more geared towards rote memory than critical thinking (I agree so far). I've read that Princeton review Science Workbook has probably the best BS passages in terms of relevance to actual passage feel.

My buddy who just started med school said I can buy his mint 2010 edition TPRH SW for $50. So now I'm thinking about ditching TBR bio and using TPRH.

I feel like that 115 pound guy that just started lifting and has nine tubs of protein powder.

Anybody have any input or insight? I know the prep material doesn't make the score, but I covered EK in its entirety and that **** didn't even touch what was tested on that day.

TPRH SW is great for review because it simulates practice passages while being specific to certain topics. Make sure you finish all/most of it before the month before your mcat. You want to spend that time doing more realistic practice material since the SW passages/Qs are a bit focused. Nevertheless it's a great review resource and I did find it to complement the EK science books well when I was reviewing. Its physics is extremely hard and detail oriented so be careful there. Also, be sure to practice verbal every day.

On a side note, a high protein diet has been linked to osteoporosis because of the acidic nature of the diet. And the levels of protein required for body building are much much lower than the average American protein intake. Info from my tpr bio instructor =]

Oh NO!!!!

You've done: EK, BR, Kaplan and you feel they didn't prepare you for what was on the test. Gulp. Did you also go back to your textbooks? Take a look through Kaplan Premier? Unless you want to try Barrons, which you can find at B&N, or create your own test book like one member showed recently, then try TPRH books. Why not? Maybe it's that you need to practice these things over and over.

although the trend is getting more experimental, definitely get the basics down. I did tbr and ek. I didn't find the actual bs difficult because I was able to figure it out and had around 8 min left over, but it wasn't that similar. It probably helped, but sometimes I felt lacking on the basics. If you're going to do tprh, I would suggest quality. review the content very well before doing passages and try to score high and not just for completion. That's what I plan to do (and do all the passages I can get ahold of) to study for jan.

I guess for what it's worth I don't feel that there is any prep material that could have prepared me for that disaster. 1/3 of the section was totally out of left field.

Alright, though. I'm done complaining. :meanie:

So we can agree that most people find TPRH SW to be better material than TBR Bio passages?

I took 8/4, and I did TPRH. I thought it did a decent job in mixing content review and critical thinking practice. But the TPRH did not have enough practice passages. I did not do TBR so can't comment on that.
