For the majority of my life I lived in a household with abt 10 ppl. My father mom, brothers, sisters, etc lived with us and continue to live with us at the present moment.
Even though both of my parents are nurses, I did no have the privileged lifestyle. When we lived in NY we lived on Pitkin Ave in Brooklyn, for those who don't know this is the classified as the projects. Crackpipes were always on the floor. My parents were divorced by the age of 3 and I mainly had to raise myself because my father had 3 jobs. Also my siblings and I were taken away from my mother by social services due to the living environment, I really don't feel like sharing the details. Even though my father did have a good income, we still lived in a 'ghetto' until I was abt 15 yrs of age. I also am around disadvantage people most of the time since my dad and mom are the only child of there siblings to graduate from high schools. I have numerous family members who are illiterate and on govt. assistance.

If your family was on government assistance, you definitely qualify as disadvantaged. (We are talking about immediate family members here, right?) Even if your family was not on government assistance, growing up in a poor area would probably make you qualify as disadvantaged. I don't think any adcom would dispute your disadvantaged status based on the description you gave.

While at the moment my aunt and uncle are on govt. assist. and I consider them immediate family.
Due to my Caribbean upbringing and because we live in the same household.

I notice AMCAS uses "quotes" so I am assuming they understand that immediate family can have several meanings.
