I am entering my Sophomore year of college. I have so far taken 36 credits (+3 from an AP). My current science GPA is a dismal 3.571, and my overall GPA is a 3.647.

I will begin volunteering at a local hospital starting next week (actually a continuation of when I volunteered there from high school), I have been an active riding EMT at my local rescue squad for the past two years, I also began volunteering this past semester with the RU ROAR club. I also began working (starting last semester and continuing into the foreseeable future) in a laboratory at UMDNJ. This upcoming week I will be meeting with a vascular surgeon and discussing any possibility of me shadowing him.

Besides my dismal grades, do I look good so far? I understand that the worst is yet to come; but from what I've heard, the Honors Organic Chemistry section (the one I will be taking in the Fall) is easier than the General Organic Chem section... so I'm praying lol, that I make sure to put in as much work as needed.

3.5 is not dismal. It's a little lower than you'd like maybe, and you're right to set your goals high. But the first years are the hardest (most people need time to acclimate to college, and a disproportionate lot of your classes are probably determined by distros, not your interests).

Starting the extracurricular early is smart. Personally, I loved orgo. If you feel like your mind just wasn't suited for gen chem or physical chem, orgo might fit your perfectly. Otherwise, just put in a bit more on bio and physics and you can get your GPA where you want it to be.

Chill. And have some fun. It's college, remember?

Ugh, I would have killed to come out of freshman year with a 3.5/3.6.
