Ok guys. I need help lol. Im happy with my scores except I dont know what to do about the PAT. Please let me know what you think and if I have a chance to get in anywher. Here are the scores.

If I were you and had the time, I would retake, but if that's not an option, your scores seem fine.

They seem fine to me. Although the PAT is critical, it is weighted differently at every school in terms of importance. Some schools don't eveb really consider it. You should have a basic understanding on how to look at the PAT section, but they will teach a lot of it in dental school (how to look at things from different angles in the mouth, etc.) I wouldn't retake it if I were you, for risk of lowering your stellar performance in the other sections.

what's ur GPA? mine from davis is 3.5 and community college one is 3.85.
I m thinking about taking it again, but I am trying to fill out application before. Definately apply indiana bcz I mailed them, they were saying that I will definately call me for interview. I picked schools acc. to GPA and who have low PAT requirements like Arizona, pennys, tennesse, NY, Howard,etc..

definately not!
But I really love dentistry and I will do whatever it takes. But I really really dotn want to take it again if I can get in with my current scores.

I retook the DAT thinking I could get a higher score and sadly I didnt. My heart wasnt in it the second time around and it showed. Besides the fact that I was out of some of my basic classes for several years now. If you truly think you should take it, then go for it. But take what gets posted on this site with a grain of salt. good luck with whatever you choose!

What is your GPA and what schools have you applied to? Your DAT is only a portion of your application and the PAT is only a portion of your DAT. If you have a weak GPA and minimal extracurriculars, then you will probably need to retake the DAT. If you have a good GPA and the rest of your application is solid, then you have a good shot at a number of schools as the rest of your DAT scores are good. If you do decide to retake, study your butt off and contact the schools you applied to to let them know that you are retaking the test. If you just don't have the time, sit tight and hope for the best - if it doesn't work out, theres always next cycle.

try indiana, Howard uni(PAT-15), uni of louisville, mecharry, west virgina (PAT-16)..and also, try to look which schools accept more out of school students if u r applying out of state....just try...some of the schools have deadlines in March, Feb. or jan, so u can fax ur scores right after retaking it..don't loose hope...ie. what I m going to do...I don't wanna retake it, so far i didn't start studing for it and besides, I m taking fall quarter when I have to retake DAT..so don't worry too much...Also, I looked at predents.com website and if u click on accepted students, one or two students have low pat and academic, but still got accepted..so be optimistic.......🙂

Im really worried if I can get in anywhere. I thought I could get at least into NYU but they said they want 18s!! Guys any1 know if I can get in with my scores?

GPA is a little higher on AADSAS w/o.

NYU wants 18, but they don't always get 18. Their average PAT is around 1, which means they accept people with both higher and lower scores. Good luck.

If I had a 15 on the PAT, I wouldn't retake it because the schools that I'm applying to don't put a heavy weight on the PAT when evaluating us.

I think you should call your top 5 choices of schools and see what they think. If they suggest retaking it then you should do it.

Hey, thats what I m going to do...I mailed many schools and some told me that they don't look at DAT scores first, first AADSAS guys going to take a look and if they think that u r not competitive enough, then they will suggest you to retake the DAT. however, most of them told me that I should retake the test to be competitive in this cycle bcz GPA is not going to balance out my PAT scores, they require atleast 17 in each area.... Only Indiana sent me the positive response, I told them my GPA and scores, admission guy told me that I have pretty good chances to get in...I know u can apply anywhere, but think where u wanna practice bcz u have to take board exams there.... good luck john.....

I called USC and they told me their cutoff for PAT is 15 and my gpa will balance out that bad scores. even last yr's av. pat was 19 for their students. I got only positive responses from USC and indiana,so u can also try there..........take care.

Your scores look great. At least your PAT is "average". That may not be good for some schools, but your other scores look great!! Best of luck!!

Well Im in the northeast so I dunno. I wouldnt want to go to Indiana because I hear their facilities arent the best. I really love dentistry so it is important for me to go to an excellent clinical school.

If you have strong rec's, good personal statement, and good LOR's, assuming you are a decent human being, you'll be set. i think some people like to get thier jollies off by looking at thier dat scores...once again, dont worry ure fine.

Thanks man. Congrats ont he interviews. Yea do you mind posting where you got interviews? I think I have pretty good LORs, and I am pretty sure I wrote a solid personal statement.
