I know you aren't supposed to use this site for personal medical advice, but I'm REALLY REALLY worried and this can't wait a couple weeks till an appt. There is a region on my back (I'd say it has a 3in radius) where I don't have any fine-touch sensation. I realized it a couple days ago and its been driving me crazy ever since. What could be wrong with me? Do you think its serious or just some random nerve damage?? HELP! Please don't delete this question! PLEASE!

The area is on the left side of my vertebral column over my lower ribs...

So, my roommate (shout out to FictionalGirl) just showed me this post. You really shouldn't be asking for medical advice on here. Or troll. Whichever.

That being said, if you're being serious and you're really that freaked out by your symptoms and can't wait for an appointment go to the emergency room. Go now. Or go in the morning. I say this as someone going into emergency medicine. If you are actually concerned that you are dying, the ED docs will evaluate you, and if they don't think you are they will send you home. If they think you are in acute danger, they will let you know. Then you will know that you're safe to wait for your appointment. Try student health at your institution if you need a quick appointment, they're often very good about seeing people same day and referring to the community if you need a specialist.

Well, I'm not THAAAAT worried...I was just hoping for a neurologist on here to tell me that its probably nothing or that I really oughta get checked out. ANYONE?

Go to your doctor. As you have probably seen from looking at these forums, neurologic practice relies heavily on physical exam. Without being able to actually examine you there is absolutely no way to know what, if anything, is going on with you. Additionally, none of us would want to give you advice based on almost no information, be wrong, and either worry you unecessarily or tell you to ignored something that is potentially a problem. That being said, it's worth going to your doctor. I second omg's advice to go to the student health center... if you're a student you can usually get an appointment that day, or within a few days. Often theres an "urgent care" in student health for same day appointments where they send ANYBODY who wants a same day so you'll be seen, whatever the reason. I'd do that.

That's the best advice anyone on here can give you. If you happen to come to a clinic where one of us works, we'll be happy to see you there! Best of luck to you.

Clearly your loss of back sensation will lead to an untimely demise.

The forums on this website are not meant for personal medical advice.

Please, if you are urgently ill seek medical counsel from your nearest emergency department. Otherwise, speak with your local primary care physician.
