So i signed up for the PCAT to take it this August 21st. And I am seriously so scared and don't know if i'll be ready for it. Here's some background about me...

~I'll be going into my second year of college this coming fall
~I've completed both Bio I & Bio II
~I've completed Chem I & I'm working on Chem II right now in summer
~I've also finished Anatomy & Calculus as well
~I'm signed up for Organic I this coming fall and Organic II this coming spring

the only reason I signed up to take the PCAT so early is because after this coming year of school I'll be done with all of my Pharmacy pre-reqs and I hope to attend UF's pharmacy school in Fall of 2011. UF's pharmacy application deadline is February 1st and I figured i'll take it in August for the first time and then again in October.

However I'm getting extremely scared and am wondering if I should withdraw myself from the upcoming August testing date and take it in October and january instead.

Please help me!

I don't know if you'll be ready for the organic chemistry questions. They are worth about 40% of the chemistry section.

The June PCAT hinted some questions in the direction of organic II stuff like aldehyde/ketone and acid derivative reactions.

My guess is that you'll be taking Physics I, II, and other non-PCAT pre-req's in the fall and spring?

Yeah. I'll be taking Physics I, Organic I, and Physiology in this coming fall and then Physics II and Organic II in spring.

I just don't know if I'll be confident enough to take the PCAT for the first time in August. I just figured that if I take it in August I can take it again in October the second time and then prepare to end out my application to UF. But I'm just not sure about that anymore. Because I've been thinking about canceling my August one and registering to take it for the first time in October and then a second time in January.

Aaaaahhhh it's so much to think about.

I took the June PCAT and can tell you that orgo was a decent chunk of the chemistry section. Probably more Orgo I than orgo II but by how much I forget.

This is one of the reasons why very few people get into pharmacy school without a degree anymore and those that do normally have three years of school, not just the bare minimum of two years. It's very hard to score well on the PCAT with only a year or even two years of school. Most people just haven't learned enough yet about many of the topics on the PCAT.
