Am I EVER going to get a case secondary?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You'll get yours eventually, I was processed 7/2 and only got mine within the past week 😱

Wow...talk about the pony express 😱

yea, the people there are SLOW! If it makes you feel any better, I was processed 6/15 and didn't get it till just last week 😱

I hear people have had success clicking on this link and requesting their password. It's just a button you click, so maybe they expect people to do it. They don't screen, so I don't know why they're taking so long with some people. Once they do ask you, though, they want it two weeks (not a deadline, they just mention it would be a good idea), so I'd start working on it now if you can - it's pretty long.

question 1:
Type or Copy and Paste a brief essay on a subject outside of medicine, which has been an area of great interest to you. Please limit your essay to 2 pages.

question 2:
If you have had experience doing research or other scholarly work, please describe your experience, including the question you pursued and how you approached it, your results and interpretation of the results, and any thoughts about what this experience meant to you. Please limit your response to 1 page.

Case sreens, you may never get a secondary. Best of luck.

I heard they are done already. Just kidding, your email spam filter probably blocked it. JK 👍

Dude. I was complete on 7/20 and haven't rec'd it.

*shrugs*

It'll come when it comes....

Oh, STFU, troll. 🙄

http://casemed.case.edu/admissions/admiss_f.htm

Here's how the admissions process works at our school:

After the American Medical College Application Service receives your electronic application, you will be sent an e-mail message directing you to our online, secondary (final) application. You should complete this application as instructed. After you have submitted your application and all supporting materials, the appropriate admissions committee will review your information and decide whether to invite you for an interview. After your interview (if granted), the committee will decide whether to extend to you an offer of admission. You will be notified of the committee?s decision no later than May 1.

haha, thanks for the support guys...guess all I can do is obsessively check my email...

is case rolling? Not that I can do anything about it if it is...

If you can show me a citation to this effect then I might (might) believe you. Otherwise, as I said: shut yer trap.

Just got of the phone with the Case Adcom office:

They've been having problems with the technical aspects of the passwords/applications for new people. However, they plan on having all of the backlog (meaning EVERYONE who applied to either program) cleared out by early next week.

So check your email boxes.....and the lady said that if you haven't heard from them by Wed/Th, then to give them a call.

Ugh, after looking at the length and focus of their essays, I'm considering just letting it go.

According to Princeton Review:

Admissions Process:
About half of those submitting AMCAS applications receive a secondary. Secondaries should be completed promptly and are due by December 15 at the latest. Less than one-third of those completing secondaries are interviewed, with interviews held from September to March. Students have a one-on-one interview with a faculty member that generally lasts one hour. Those interviewed are notified shortly afterward of their status: accept, reject, or wait-list. The wait-list is not ranked. About half of the students who are accepted decline the offer, freeing up spaces for wait-listed applicants. Wait-listed candidates may submit additional material and should indicate if Case Western is their top choice. All Case Western undergraduates are invited to interview at the Medical School.

There yah go Evo-Dbag.

I'm sorry. I'm going to need a primary citation, not a secondary one please. After all, why would the MSAR + website + admissions office all lie about secondaries? Why not be like EVERY OTHER MEDICAL SCHOOL THAT SCREENS and say it? OHSU says it. Morehouse says it. UPitt, Wake, all say it. Why buy trouble? 🙄

Maybe if ExMike said that they screen, then I'd believe it.

BTW, I don't have some sort of personal pride wrapped up in getting the secondary/interview/acceptance. I'd like to get one of each, but I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't happen. What I DO hate is second-hand information, rumors, and gunner-ism (i.e., making someone feel bad/doubt themselves, all in the name of competition).

Besides, I used to work for Kaplan, and those places are NOT the definitive sources of information about anything but the MCAT.

Much agreed.

Whoa, slow down! You asked for a citation, right?

I thought they didn't screen. I remember there was an SDN member who called them up and found out that they send only 50 secondaries out per day but that they send them to everyone.

If anything I think their secondary does the screening for them
