I got my license for the first time early last year and it is up for renewal this year on my birthday month.
I noticed that "All new licenses are exempt from earning CE for their first renewal cycle"
Is this my first renewal cycle they are talking about, or are they referring to the first time I got my license !?
Anyone knows ?

Thanks

First RENEWAL cycle = when you try to RENEW your license the FIRST time.

You are exempted from CE requirements when you are renewing your license 1 time only. (i.e got licensed in 2008, expires 2010 - in 2010 you don't have to do CE since this is your first renewal cycle, just submit application for renewal and pay the fee)

Some states allow CE exemption for the first renewal, some don't, in some it depends whether more than half the renewal cycle has passed since your graduation. Depends on where you are, so check with your board of pharmacy.

I'm in California, and yes more that half the renewal cycle (more than one year) have passed. The total renewal cycle in Cali is 2 years.
So I am still not sure if I need to have 30 CE hours or not ?
I will dig in on the board website to see what I find since they are impossible to reach over the phone.

Got an email back from Cali board in one day !
They said to leave the part where you have to sign off on the CE hours blank.

"Leave it blank and do not sign it. This process is for our accounting office, they will put it on a CE inadequate status hold, when the Board receives the reports from our accounting office, we will then clear your status"

In Michigan, if you are licensed for less than a year, you are exempt from CE. If you are licensed for between 1 and 2 years - gotta do 15 CE. The rest - 30 CE.
