Hi Sdn I am a freshman I finished my first 13 credit semester with a 2.3 GPA. I took four 3 credit classes. And a one credit class no science classes or math. I won't deny it I'm worried I'm in a position that makes me a person who is done for. I am a URM low-income student New York native and will be the first person in my family to graduate college when I'm done. With my bad semester is it even possible to get into an MD medical school? I know I messed up and now understand that I need to study more. In the beginning of the semester the first half I did great but became lazy and thought I would be fine. My own ignorance and laziness cost me 3 A's and two A-. But now I know what I need to do. But is it too late? So Sdn what are your thoughts am I done for?

Stop getting bad grades. That’s all you can do at this point. You don’t get to be lazy

Grades are looked at by year, not by semester or trimester or quarter. Make this a strong semester. with a strong showing you should end up with a GPA >3.0 for the year and you'll be well positioned to show a strong upward trend.

If none of the classes you took were bio, chem, physics or math, all of the grades earned this semester will be "all other" which doesn't show up as part of the science GPA. That's good because you still have a chance of showing a very strong science GPA.

Nope. Far from it. Now get to work.
