Just recalculated my GPA.

My cum is a 2.96. Science is 3.74, post bacc 3.82, Last 120 Hours 3.57. Practice mcats low 30s. I'm good across the board except for the cum.

Will this still land me in auto screen territory at 3.0 schools, or am I close enough to get rounded?

Will taking a summer class after I apply in June (which will bump me to a 3.0) help my cause even though I won't have that grade until early august?

I would take a class or two in the spring (even online at a CC) to get the cGPA to 3.0+. It is not worth the risk to be possibly auto screened or apply later when you are this close.

Your sGPA and postbacc GPA are solid, bust your butt and get as high an MCAT score as possible and you should be in the running at some schools. Make sure you have the clinical exposure and shadowing bases covered.

I agree. Your scores look good. Your cumulative is brining you down but with a good mcat i wouldn't count you out of hte race

What schools are 3.0 schools? Every one I've seen is 3.6 or higher

1) While many MD schools typically autoscreen at a 3.0, not all of them do. And there are a number of DO schools that publish lower official cutoffs in the MSAR-equivalent book,called the CIB: http://www.aacom.org/resources/bookstore/cib/Documents/2014cib/2014 CIB Complete Small.pdf

I doubt you'll get rounded.

2) If you have already been verified, then getting new grades won't be figured in by AMCAS. AACOMAS, the DO application service, will refigure your GPAs if you submit a new transcript.

Really try to get that cum GPA over 3.0, I got autoscreened at a lot of schools because of my crappy sGPA, had to do a lot of work to get it above 3.0. Just a couple more classes should do it

Definitely get the cGPA above 3.0 before applying.

You can submit AMCAS in June with 1 school to get around waiting 4+ weeks for verification in August. Once you get your grade back, then add the extra schools in August so you don't have to worry about getting screened out.
