Hello everyone, so I'm going to start my jounior year in college this fall and I major in Biology. My problem is that I took Bio and chem in my old school but after I tranferd to new school they didn't accept these cridets. I feel so behind. I still didn't take the mcat, and still didn't take any of my requiremnt classes or major classes. I'm going to take Bio 101 this semester and other elective classes. ( I'm almost done with all of my elective and gen classes ) pls give me some advice what should I do and what classes should I add .

You need the pre-requisite bio, chem, physic, organic chemistry, biochemistry for the MCAT. If you haven't taken these classes don't take the MCAT. Sorry you're in this particular bind but there's no sense in rushing to take a test. Take your time, do well on the subjects and take the MCAT when ready. Otherwise, you're gonna feel the pain of having to retake a poor score.

What exactly are the classes you still have to take?
Are you planning on taking gap years?
Both of these questions are essential to understand how you should plan your schedule.

No I'm not planning on taking gap year, and the classes I still need to take are the science classes

If you are starting your junior year and have all of your prereqs and MCAT to do you will not be ready to apply next June. Accept that fact now and don’t make yourself crazy worrying about it. We can’t tell you what classes to take. Your school has requirements and you have to fulfill them to graduate. So slow down and go visit your advisor and set up the next several semesters. But don’t even think about the MCAT until you have taken all of the prereqs. Don’t forget you also have to work on your ECs. So I think you should plan on 2 gap years. You only want to apply once with the best possible application. So do it right the first time.

candbgirl has a good point. I know when you're in college 1 or 2 years seems like SUCH a long time. I'm sure you're itching to just go straight into medical school because you know it's at least another 12 years before you're past residency. But, take the time to view it from another perspective:

1 or 2 years to strengthen your application is a small price to pay when looking ahead to a lifetime of practicing medicine. Sometimes it may feel like "if we just get the app in" or "who knows, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take," BUT I feel like these sentiments (while useful for general feel-goodness and sometimes actually have value) are too often used and undermine how the competition of med school apps. It is much harder to be a reapplicant (Because you have to make a visible improvement) than it is to be a fresh birdy applicant.

Best of luck
