I finished up my secondaries mid to late October to the following schools:

Case Western
Harvard
Indiana
Mayo
Medical College of Wisconsin
Northwestern
UAB
University of Chicago
Cincinnati
Colorado
U Illinois at Chicago
Iowa
Michigan
Minnesota
North Carolina
Pittsburgh
Washington University
Yale

Most I haven't heard back from yet but I was not offered interviews at the bolded schools. I am getting very anxious. Was I too late in submitting my applications or am I just being paranoid?

My GPA is 3.6 and MCAT 34M. Not the best numbers but I think they are respectable. I had 2+ years research as an undergraduate for my Honors thesis and am currently a full-time research assistant since graduating in May 2010. All things considered, I feel like a pretty good applicant. Realistically, I was hoping for 1 or 2 interviews once I began applying, but the rejections and lack of response is starting to kill me now.

I feel your pain. I submitted most of my secondaries in early to mid September and still haven't heard from a lot of them. Yale was submitted on Sept 11 (MD only, though) and I still haven't heard anything.

it seems like quite a top heavy list for your numbers. that's what i regret about my cycle. even though i submitted secondaries in early july to early august, it just resulted in a buttload of rejections early on - basically money down the drain.

however, it does seem the general consensus on sdn that there is a huge lull in II given out in the recent weeks... i'm experiencing it too.

That makes sense, given that a lot of the deadlines are around this time and the schools are probably overloaded

I believe I am similar in stats and experience, so I hope for the best for you 🙂

My MCAT is higher but my list is more top heavy... nothing but rejections so far. However, I heard my first bit of good news so far (Emory). It's not much, but hang in there. What else can we do?

I was curious what everyone thinks on update letters. I wanted to share some updates but I want to wait until my first author paper is accepted (but it may be too late?). Is it not okay to send letters to schools that haven't invited you for an interview yet?

Depends on the school. Some specifically say that they do not accept updates until after inviting you for an interview. Others already have online forms for you to submit updates whenever you want. If not sure, better to call and ask.
