Hey ya'll,

I submitted my transcripts over a month ago and I have received notification from AMCAS saying that they have received them. However, due to work and other activities, I haven't been able to start the AMCAS application until this week. Following my current pace/schedule, I'll have the application ready to submit by Monday afternoon. Would this be considered late? I know I am not early but I don't know how much I should be concerned about this or if I should add a note in my application about the reason why my application is late.
Have students in the past received secondaries/II after submitting applications this late?

If it makes a difference, I think you could consider me an "average" applicant, 30MCAT w/ 3.65GPA

Thanks,
Ioannes

You'll be fine, July submission isn't "late" by any means. It just isn't the absolute earliest you can submit.

On a side note, you submitted your transcripts a month ago and AMCAS is just now receiving them? Dam, I'm screwed... I just submitted one of my transcripts last week, and I'll be submitting another tomorrow!

I did my transcripts electronically. That way it goes instantly. If you do paper, there is a huge transcript processing lag.

When you say "start" your AMCAS does that mean the ECs and PS are already written? Because if not, then yes, you are late, because you should expect to make several drafts of each for them to turn out well.

There's nothing you can do about the timing now, though I'd say that this is a bit late.

My school is stuck in the dark ages and can only mail transcripts at this time, strange since it's a large (34,000+) state school...

Hello.
Yes, unfortunately I did not think I was applying this cycle with AMCAS due to financial reasons. However, my estimate time of Monday includes several drafts of both of them being completed and edited by diverse editors. I mean, if I really wanted to, I can submit right now but I want them to be reviewed a few times and, for this reason, I am confident I will have them done by Monday. I am just unsure how worried I should be or if I am truly late when compared to other applicants.

Thank you,
Ioannes

hmmmm.. not sure. It is getting pretty late in the cycle. You probably won't grab an interview spot until January.

Lol same with my school, also a large state school. Pretty ridiculous, took 3 weeks for transcripts to get processed. Why they can't become electronic I dont understand.

Pre-write your secondaries and submit them as soon as they are received. August submission of secondaries is acceptable.

Thanks for the advice.
Anyone else?

Thank you,

August secondaries are a bit late, but I know that people still get a spot for interview when it's turned in during August as well. Main thing is to do a good job prior to submitting anything - that means even your PS. Because once you submit everything to AMCAS it needs to be verified and that takes a bit of time. When you make any changes to your AMCAS it requires reverifications and I don't think you want that to happen.

Turn in your best work and the earlier would be better in terms of your chance for an II.

Best of luck!

did you submit yet?

Hey.
Yes, I did submit very early today. AAMC has my transcripts so we are now playing the waiting game for verification. I will start adding more schools tomorrow and working on secondaries. I am hoping to be complete by mid-late August. I am hoping it won't be too late. I just need one school to be lenient and it will be enough.
